RESUMO

Syngas conversion serves as a gas-to-liquid technology to produce liquid fuels and valuable chemicals from coal, natural gas, or biomass. During syngas conversion, sintering is known to deactivate the catalyst owing to the loss of active surface area. However, the growth of nanoparticles might induce the formation of new active sites such as grain boundaries (GBs) which perform differently from the original nanoparticles. Herein, we reported a unique Cu-based catalyst, Cu nanoparticles with in-situ generated GBs confined in zeolite Y (denoted as activated Cu/Y), which exhibited a high selectivity for C5+ hydrocarbons (65.3 C%) during syngas conversion. Such high selectivity for long-chain products distinguished activated Cu/Y from typical copper-based catalysts which mainly catalyze methanol synthesis. This unique performance was attributed to the GBs, while the zeolite assisted the stabilization through spatial confinement. Specifically, the GBs enabled H-assisted dissociation of CO and subsequent hydrogenation into CHx*. CHx* species not only serve as the initiator but also directly polymerize on Cu GBs, known as the carbide mechanism. Meanwhile, the synergy of GBs and their vicinal low-index facets led to the CO insertion where non-dissociative adsorbed CO on low-index facets migrated to GBs and inserted into the metal-alkyl bond for the chain growth.

RESUMO

As one of the most urgent social and health problems in the world, neurodegenerative diseases have always been of interest to researchers. However, the pathological mechanisms and therapeutic approaches are not achieved. In addition to the established roles of oxidative stress, inflammation and immune response, changes of gut microbiota are also closely related to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. Gut microbiota is the central player of the gut-brain axis, the dynamic bidirectional communication pathway between gut microbiota and central nervous system, and emerging insights have confirmed its indispensability in the development of neurodegenerative diseases. In this review, we discuss the complex relationship between gut microbiota and the central nervous system from the perspective of the gut-brain axis; review the mechanism of microbiota for the modulation different neurodegenerative diseases and discuss how different dietary patterns affect neurodegenerative diseases via gut microbiota; and prospect the employment of gut microbiota in the therapeutic approach to those diseases. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

What is already known about this topic?: The inclusion of meningococcal vaccines in the National Immunization Program (NIP) over several years has significantly reduced the incidence of meningococcal meningitis in China to historic lows. Worldwide, there has been a diversification of meningococcal serogroups, leading to a shift in dominant serogroups in China from serogroup A to serogroups C and B, accompanied by a rise in reports of serogroups Y and W. What is added by this report?: An outbreak of serogroup Y Neisseria meningitidis (Nm) in a secondary vocational school involved a single confirmed severe case and 24 individuals with laboratory-confirmed Nm carriage. Epidemiological investigation revealed that the outbreak was localized to the classroom of the confirmed case. Prolonged close contact within a confined space was identified as a significant risk factor for Nm transmission. The genotype sequence identified was type 1655 (ST-1655), which is categorized under clonal complex 23 (CC-23) and bears resemblance to 8 previously confirmed cases of serogroup Y meningococcal meningitis within Guangdong Province. This suggests that serogroup Y infections continue to sporadically emerge and have become prevalent strains. What are the implications for public health practice?: This outbreak underscores the critical need to enhance surveillance of meningococcal serogroups and population carrier, and advocate for vaccination with MenY-containing vaccines.

STUDY QUESTION: The objective was to construct a model for predicting the probability of recurrent implantation failure (RIF) after assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatment based on the clinical characteristics and routine laboratory test data of infertile patients. A model was developed to predict RIF. The model showed high calibration in external validation, helped to identify risk factors for RIF, and improved the efficacy of ART therapy. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY: Research on the influencing factors of RIF has focused mainly on embryonic factors, endometrial receptivity, and immune factors. However, there are many kinds of examinations regarding these aspects, and comprehensive screening is difficult because of the limited time and economic conditions. Therefore, we should try our best to analyse the results of routine infertility screenings to make general predictions regarding the occurrence of RIF. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION: A retrospective study was conducted with 5212 patients at the Reproductive Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of USTC from January 2018 to June 2022. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS: This study included 462 patients in the RIF group and 4750 patients in the control group. The patients' basic characteristics, clinical treatment data, and laboratory test indices were compared. Logistic regression was used to analyse RIF-related risk factors, and the prediction model was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and the corresponding areas under the curve (AUCs). Further analysis of the influencing factors of live births in the first cycle of subsequent assisted reproduction treatment in RIF patients was performed, including the live birth subgroup (n = 116) and the no live birth subgroup (n = 200). MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE: (1) An increased duration of infertility (1.978; 95% CI, 1.264-3.097), uterine cavity abnormalities (2.267; 95% CI, 1.185-4.336), low AMH levels (0.504; 95% CI, 0.275-0.922), insulin resistance (3.548; 95% CI, 1.931-6.519), antinuclear antibody (ANA)-positive status (3.249; 95% CI, 1.20-8.797) and anti-ß2-glycoprotein I antibody (A-ß2-GPI Ab)-positive status (5.515; 95% CI, 1.481-20.536) were associated with an increased risk of RIF. The area under the curve of the logistic regression model was 0.900 (95% CI, 0.870-0.929) for the training cohort and 0.895 (95% CI, 0.865-0.925) for the testing cohort. (2) Advanced age (1.069; 95% CI, 1.015-1.126) was a risk factor associated with no live births after the first cycle of subsequent assisted reproduction treatment in patients with RIF. Blastocyst transfer (0.365; 95% CI = 0.181-0.736) increased the probability of live birth in subsequent cycles in patients with RIF. The area under the curve of the logistic regression model was 0.673 (95% CI, 0.597-0.748). LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION: This was a single-centre regression study, for which the results need to be evaluated and verified by prospective large-scale randomized controlled studies. The small sample size for the analysis of factors influencing pregnancy outcomes in subsequent assisted reproduction cycles for RIF patients resulted in the inclusion of fewer covariates, and future studies with larger samples and the inclusion of more factors are needed for assessment and validation. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS: Prediction of embryo implantation prior to transfer will facilitate the clinical management of patients and disease prediction and further improve ART treatment outcomes. PURPOSE: Surgery for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is characterized by a poor prognosis and high complication rate, resulting in a heavy symptom burden and poor health-related quality of life (QOL). We evaluated longitudinal patient-reported outcomes (PROs) to analyze the correlations between symptoms and QOL and their changing characteristics during postoperative rehabilitation. METHODS: We investigated patients with ESCC who underwent minimally invasive McKeown esophagectomy at Sichuan Cancer Hospital between April 2019 and December 2019. Longitudinal data of the clinical characteristics and PROs were collected. The MD Anderson Symptom Inventory and European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) QOL questionnaires were used to assess symptoms and QOL and compare the trajectories of PROs during the investigation. RESULTS: A total of 244 patients with ESCC were enrolled in this study. Regarding QOL, role and emotional functions returned to baseline at 1 month after surgery, and cognitive and social functions returned to baseline at 3 months after surgery. However, physical function and global QOL did not return to baseline at 1 year after surgery. At 7 days and 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after surgery, the main symptoms of the patients were negatively correlated with physical, role, emotional, cognitive, and social functions and the overall health status (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Patients with ESCC experience reduced health-related QOL and persisting symptoms after minimally invasive McKeown esophagectomy, but a recovery trend was observed within 1 month. The long-term QOL after esophagectomy is acceptable.

Objective To investigate the effect of Lemiancao on insomnia in the patients with depressive disorder. Methods Totally 79 patients diagnosed with both insomnia and depressive disorder from February to August in 2022 in Peking University Sixth Hospital were selected and classified into a control group(n=40) and a Lemiancao group(n=39).The Lemiancao group received routine nursing and medical treatment combined with Lemiancao training in the morning and evening every day,while the control group received routine nursing and medical treatment.The sleep status was evaluated based on the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI),insomnia severity index(ISI),and 36-item short-form health survey(SF-36) before and after treatment. Results The general information of patients showed no significant difference between the two groups(all P>0.05).After a 2-week intervention with Lemiancao training,the Lemiancao group showed lower PSQI and ISI scores and higher SF-36 score than the control group(all P<0.001). Conclusion Lemiancao training has therapeutic effects on insomnia in the patients with depressive disorder.

Background: Research on the risk factors for cervical cancer in Yunnan Province's four characteristic ethnic groups (Han, Bai, Dai, and Hani) is lacking. Objective: To study the risk factors of cervical cancer in four ethnic women in Yunnan Province, and to provide evidence for its prevention. Methods: The cervical cancer patients of Han, Bai, Dai and Hani ethnic groups in Yunnan Province who were first diagnosed in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University (Yunnan Cancer Hospital, Yunnan Cancer Center) from January 2011 to December 2020 were selected as the research objects. The 1:1 matched case-control study method was used, and single factor and conditional logistic regression were used for statistical analysis. Results: HPV types 16, 18 and 58 are mostly related with cervical cancer, the younger the age of the last pregnancy, the more times of pregnancy, childbirth and abortion, especially the younger the first marriage age of Bai and Dai, are the risk factors of cervical cancer; the infection of genital tract bacteria, mycoplasma and chlamydia is closely related to the incidence of cervical cancer in four ethnicities. Multifactorial analysis showed that demographic characteristics and environment/behavior were not included in the influencing factors of cervical cancer; among Han, Bai, Dai and Hani ethnic minorities, contraception (OR=0.29, OR=0.03, OR=0.09, OR=0.16, P<0.05) was positive factor, HPV infection (OR=64.77, OR=128.71, OR=71.89, OR=40.07, P<0.01) was a causative factor of cervical cancer. Conclusion: Risk of high parity with cervical cancer could be due to a complex interplay of factors, it is very important to formulate prevention strategies and measures in line with the cervical cancer of Han, Bai, Dai and Hani ethnic groups women in Yunnan Province.

Chemotherapy is an important therapeutic approach for malignant tumors for it triggers apoptosis of cancer cells. However, chemotherapy also induces senescence of stromal cells in the tumor microenvironment to promote tumor progression. Strategies aimed at killing tumor cells while simultaneously eliminating senescent stromal cells represent an effective approach to cancer treatment. Here, we developed an engineered Src-siRNA delivery system based on small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) to simultaneously eliminate senescent stromal cells and tumor cells for cancer therapy. The DSPE-PEG-modified urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) peptide was anchored to the membranes of induced mesenchymal stem cell-derived sEVs (uPA-sEVs), and Src siRNA was loaded into the uPA-sEVs by electroporation (uPA-sEVs-siSrc). The engineered uPA-sEVs-siSrc retained the basic sEVs properties and protected against siSrc degradation. uPA peptide modification enhanced the sEVs with the ability to simultaneously target doxorubicin-induced senescent stromal cells and tumor cells. Src silencing by uPA-sEVs-siSrc induced apoptosis of both senescent stromal cells and tumor cells. The uPA-sEVs-siSrc displayed preferential tumor accumulation and effectively inhibited tumor growth in a tumor xenograft model. Furthermore, uPA-sEVs-siSrc in combination with doxorubicin significantly reduced the senescence burden and enhanced the therapeutic efficacy of chemotherapy. Taken together, uPA-sEVs-siSrc may serve as a promising therapy to kill two birds with one stone, not only killing tumor cells to achieve remarkable antitumor effect, but also eliminating senescent cells to enhance the efficacy of chemotherapeutic agent in tumor regression.

BACKGROUND: Infectious diarrhea remains a major public health problem worldwide. This study used stacking ensemble to developed a predictive model for the incidence of infectious diarrhea, aiming to achieve better prediction performance. METHODS: Based on the surveillance data of infectious diarrhea cases, relevant symptoms and meteorological factors of Guangzhou from 2016 to 2021, we developed four base prediction models using artificial neural networks (ANN), Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTM), support vector regression (SVR) and extreme gradient boosting regression trees (XGBoost), which were then ensembled using stacking to obtain the final prediction model. All the models were evaluated with three metrics: mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), root mean square error (RMSE), and mean absolute error (MAE). RESULTS: Base models that incorporated symptom surveillance data and weekly number of infectious diarrhea cases were able to achieve lower RMSEs, MAEs, and MAPEs than models that added meteorological data and weekly number of infectious diarrhea cases. The LSTM had the best prediction performance among the four base models, and its RMSE, MAE, and MAPE were: 84.85, 57.50 and 15.92%, respectively. The stacking ensembled model outperformed the four base models, whose RMSE, MAE, and MAPE were 75.82, 55.93, and 15.70%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The incorporation of symptom surveillance data could improve the predictive accuracy of infectious diarrhea prediction models, and symptom surveillance data was more effective than meteorological data in enhancing model performance. Using stacking to combine multiple prediction models were able to alleviate the difficulty in selecting the optimal model, and could obtain a model with better performance than base models.

BACKGROUND: In China, Salvia miltiorrhiza and ligustrazine (SML) injection are widely used as adjunctive therapy for patients with diabetic kidney disease (DKD). However, different studies have reported conflicting results. Therefore, a systematic review and meta-analysis are necessary to assess the efficacy and safety of SML injection for the treatment of DKD. METHODS: We searched 6 electronic literature databases comparing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI)/angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), SML injection in combination with ACEIs/ARBs that were conducted from inception until September 5, 2023. Two reviewers extracted data and independently assessed the risk of bias. Using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool for Risk Assessment. Mean differences (MD) were combined with random-effects models and the corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were reported. Review Manager 5.4 software was used for meta-analysis. Stata 17.0 software was used for sensitivity analysis and Egger test. RESULTS: The combined results show that the use of SML injection along with ACEI/ARB led to better outcomes than the use of controls in terms of enhancing recovery: renal function: Serum creatinine (MD = -14.69, 95% CI (-19.38, -10.00)), Blood urea nitrogen (MD = -1.23, 95% CI (-1.72, -0.74)), Urinary ß2-microglobulin (MD = -4.58, 95% CI (-7.72, -1.44)); urinary protein: Urinary albumin excretion rate (MD = -45.74, 95% CI (-58.92, -32.56)), Urine albumin-creatinine ratio (MD = -11.93, 95% CI (-13.89, -9.96)), 24-h urine proteinuria (MD = -0.59, 95% CI (-0.86, -0.32)), Urine microalbumin (MD = -13.50, 95% CI (-20.18, -6.83)). Additionally, adjuvant therapy with SML injection enhanced results in blood glucose, blood pressure, lipids, and inflammatory responses, and no significant variations in adverse events were discovered between the 2 groups. CONCLUSIONS: In patients with DKD, combining SML injection with ACEI/ARB improves renal function, renal proteinuria, hyperglycemia, blood pressure, dyslipidemia, and inflammatory response.

Acrylamide (ACR) is an irritant that can cause damage to the eyes, skin, and nervous and reproductive systems. This study aims to illustrate a case of central nervous system and optic nerve damage from exposure to ACR. In this case, a 49-year-old male material handler was accidentally splashed with ACR solution on both of his upper limbs. Consequently, he was admitted to the hospital with toxic encephalopathy, characterized by cerebellar ataxia and slurred speech. Magnetic resonance imaging scan, a brain computed tomography scan blood sample analyses, optic coherence tomography, electroneuromyogram, and visual evoked potentials examination were performed. After 20 days of receiving symptomatic support treatment, the patient continued to experience disturbances in consciousness. Then, he developed vision loss, memory disorders, and symptoms of peripheral neuropathy such as skin peeling, extremity weakness, and absent tendon reflexes. This case report underscores the severe consequences of acute dermal exposure to high concentrations of ACR, resulting in toxic encephalopathy, visual impairment, and memory disorders, which will contribute to a broader understanding of ACR toxicity.

The introduction of rotational freedom by twist angles in twisted bilayer (TB) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) can tailor the inherent properties of the TMDCs, which provides a promising platform to investigate the exotic physical properties. However, direct synthesis of high-quality TB-TMDCs with full twist angles is significantly challenging due to the substantial energy barriers during crystal growth. Here, a modified chemical vapor deposition strategy is proposed to synthesize TB-WS2 with a wide twist angle range from 0° to 120°. Utilizing a tilted SiO2 /Si substrate, a gas flow disturbance is generated in the furnace tube to create a heterogeneous concentration gradient of the metal precursor, which provides an extra driving force for the growth of TB-WS2 . The Raman and photoluminescence results confirm a weak interlayer coupling of the TB-WS2 . High-quality periodic Moiré patterns are observed in the scanning transmission electron microscopy images. Moreover, owing to the strong correlation between the nonlinear optical response and the twisted crystal structure, tunable second harmonic generation behaviors are realized in the TB-WS2 . This approach opens up a new avenue for the direct growth of high-crystalline-quality and pristine TB-TMDCs and their potential applications in nonlinear optical devices.

By observing a scene and listening to corresponding audio cues, humans can easily recognize where the sound is. To achieve such cross-modal perception on machines, existing methods take advantage of the maps obtained by interpolation operations to localize the sound source. As semantic object-level localization is more attractive for prospective practical applications, we argue that these map-based methods only offer a coarse-grained and indirect description of the sound source. Additionally, these methods utilize a single audio-visual tuple at a time during self-supervised learning, causing the model to lose the crucial chance to reason about the data distribution of large-scale audio-visual samples. Although the introduction of Audio-Visual Contrastive Learning (AVCL) can effectively alleviate this issue, the contrastive set constructed by randomly sampling is based on the assumption that the audio and visual segments from all other videos are not semantically related. Since the resulting contrastive set contains a large number of faulty negatives, we believe that this assumption is rough. In this paper, we advocate a novel proposal-based solution that directly localizes the semantic object-level sound source, without any manual annotations. The Global Response Map (GRM) is incorporated as an unsupervised spatial constraint to filter those instances corresponding to a large number of sound-unrelated regions. As a result, our proposal-based Sound Source Localization (SSL) can be cast into a simpler Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) problem. To overcome the limitation of random sampling in AVCL, we propose a novel Active Contrastive Set Mining (ACSM) to mine the contrastive sets with informative and diverse negatives for robust AVCL. Our approaches achieve state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance when compared to several baselines on multiple SSL datasets with diverse scenarios.

Pluripotent stem cell-derived small extracellular vesicles (PSC-sEVs) have demonstrated great clinical translational potential in multiple aging-related degenerative diseases. Characterizing the PSC-sEVs is crucial for their clinical applications. However, the specific marker pattern of PSC-sEVs remains unknown. Here, the sEVs derived from two typical types of PSCs including induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC-sEVs) and embryonic stem cells (ESC-sEVs) were analysed using proteomic analysis by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), and surface marker phenotyping analysis by nanoparticle flow cytometry (NanoFCM). A group of pluripotency-related proteins were found to be enriched in PSC-sEVs by LC-MS/MS and then validated by Western Blot analysis. To investigate whether these proteins were specifically expressed in PSC-sEVs, sEVs derived from seven types of non-PSCs (non-PSC-sEVs) were adopted for analysis. The results showed that PODXL, OCT4, Dnmt3a, and LIN28A were specifically enriched in PSC-sEVs but not in non-PSC-sEVs. Then, commonly used surface antigens for PSC identification (SSEA4, Tra-1-60 and Tra-1-81) and PODXL were gauged at single-particle resolution by NanoFCM for surface marker identification. The results showed that the positive rates of PODXL (>50%) and SSEA4 (>70%) in PSC-sEVs were much higher than those in non-PSC-sEVs (<10%). These results were further verified with samples purified by density gradient ultracentrifugation. Taken together, this study for the first time identified a cohort of specific markers for PSC-sEVs, among which PODXL, OCT4, Dnmt3a and LIN28A can be detected with Western Blot analysis, and PODXL and SSEA4 can be detected with NanoFCM analysis. The application of these specific markers for PSC-sEVs identification may advance the clinical translation of PSCs-sEVs.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common health issue affecting individuals worldwide. Recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTI) pose a significant clinical challenge, with limited understanding of the underlying mechanisms. Recent research suggests that the urobiome, the microbial community residing in the urinary tract, may play a crucial role in the development and recurrence of urinary tract infections. However, the specific virulence factor genes (VFGs) driven by urobiome contributing to infection recurrence remain poorly understood. Our study aimed to investigate the relationship between urobiome driven VFGs and recurrent urinary tract infections. By analyzing the VFGs composition of the urinary microbiome in patients with rUTI compared to a control group, we found higher alpha diversity in rUTI patients compared with healthy control. And then, we sought to identify specific VFGs features associated with infection recurrence. Specifically, we observed an increased abundance of certain VGFs in the recurrent infection group. We also associated VFGs and clinical data. We then developed a diagnostic model based on the levels of these VFGs using random forest and support vector machine analysis to distinguish healthy control and rUIT, rUTI relapse and rUTI remission. The diagnostic accuracy of the model was assessed using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, and the area under the ROC curve were 0.83 and 0.75. These findings provide valuable insights into the complex interplay between the VFGs of urobiome and recurrent urinary tract infections, highlighting potential targets for therapeutic interventions to prevent infection recurrence.

BACKGROUND: More than half of the global population lives in areas at risk of dengue (DENV) transmission. Developing an efficient risk prediction system can help curb dengue outbreaks, but multiple variables, including mosquito-based surveillance indicators, still constrain our understanding. Mosquito or oviposition positive index (MOI) has been utilized in field surveillance to monitor the wild population density of Aedes albopictus in Guangzhou since 2005. METHODS: Based on the mosquito surveillance data using Mosq-ovitrap collection and human landing collection (HLC) launched at 12 sites in Guangzhou from 2015 to 2017, we established a MOI-based model of the basic dengue reproduction number (R0) using the classical Ross-Macdonald framework combined with a linear mixed-effects model. RESULTS: During the survey period, the mean MOI and adult mosquito density index (ADI) using HLC for Ae. albopictus were 12.96 ± 17.78 and 16.79 ± 55.92, respectively. The R0 estimated from the daily ADI (ADID) showed a significant seasonal variation. A 10-unit increase in MOI was associated with 1.08-fold (95% CI 1.05, 1.11) ADID and an increase of 0.14 (95% CI 0.05, 0.23) in the logarithmic transformation of R0. MOI-based R0 of dengue varied by month and average monthly temperature. During the active period of Ae. albopictus from April to November in Guangzhou region, a high risk of dengue outbreak was predicted by the MOI-based R0 model, especially from August to October, with the predicted R0 > 1. Meanwhile, from December to March, the estimates of MOI-based R0 were < 1. CONCLUSIONS: The present study enriched our knowledge about mosquito-based surveillance indicators and indicated that the MOI of Ae. albopictus could be valuable for application in estimating the R0 of dengue using a statistical model. The MOI-based R0 model prediction of the risk of dengue transmission varied by month and temperature in Guangzhou. Our findings lay a foundation for further development of a complex efficient dengue risk prediction system.

Nanoparticles (NPs) containing light-responsive polymers and imaging agents show great promise for controlled drug delivery. However, most light-responsive NPs rely on short-wavelength excitation, resulting in poor tissue penetration and potential cytotoxicity. Moreover, excessively sensitive NPs may prematurely release drugs during storage and circulation, diminishing their efficacy and causing off-target toxicity. Herein, we report visible-light-responsive NPs composed of an amphiphilic block copolymer containing responsive 4-acrylamide benzenesulfonyl azide (ABSA) and hydrophilic N,N'-dimethylacrylamide (DMA) units. The polymer pDMA-ABSA was loaded with the chemotherapy drug dasatinib and zinc tetraphenylporphyrin (ZnTPP). ZnTPP acted as an imaging reagent and a photosensitizer to reduce ABSA upon visible light irradiation, converting hydrophobic units to hydrophilic units and disrupting NPs to trigger drug release. These NPs enabled real-time fluorescence imaging in cells and exhibited synergistic chemophotodynamic therapy against multiple cancer cell lines. Our light-responsive NP platform holds great promise for controlled drug delivery and cancer theranostics, circumventing the limitations of traditional photosensitive nanosystems.
